Nick Roland is a highly experienced Consultant ENT/Head & Neck/Facial Plastic Surgeon at LIverpool University Hospital Foundation Trust. He is the Clinical Lead of the ENT Department. He was trained in Liverpool and at the famous Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa.
Mr Roland was the Royal College of Surgeons Regional Affairs Adviser for ENT (2003 -2012) and has been heavily involved with surgical training throughout his career. He served as Chair of the Head & Neck Cancer MDT and subsequently the Cancer Network Group (2004 -2012). He served on ENT UK Council and was Chairman of ENT UK Head & Neck Society (2012-2015). He was first elected to represent ENT at BAHNO Council in 2009 and became Honorary Secretary in 2011, a position he served throughout a tenure of 8 years. He is a European Board examiner and was an Intercollegiate examiner (2009 -2018).
Mr Roland has written extensively. He has contributed to 14 textbooks and is first author of the postgraduate textbook Key Topics in Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery (3rd edition published IN 2019), widely considered to be the Exam Bible. This has helped a generation of ENT surgeons to successfully navigate post-graduate exams, including the UK Intercollegiate and European Board examinations. He is a regularly invited Speaker at National and International ENT meetings
