Mr. Marck Rutger Van Liefland is a highly skilled Consultant Upper Limb Surgeon based at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, providing general orthopaedic and specialist upper limb trauma care. He graduated from the internationally renowned medical school of Leiden in the Netherlands and completed a year of research for his MD at the University of Bonn in Germany. Following this, he began his surgical training in the UK and was awarded a Master of Science degree from the University of Cardiff in Biomechanics and Engineering in Orthopaedic Surgery.
Mr. Van Liefland’s orthopaedic training included posts in Cardiff, Swansea, and North Wales, followed by two years on the Oswestry Rotation, where he focused on Upper Limb Surgery. He also gained additional experience at the Wrightington Upper Limb Unit and the Pulvertaft Hand Unit in Derby. Since becoming a Consultant in 2007 at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry, Mr. Van Liefland has built a reputation for excellence in shoulder, elbow, and hand surgeries.
He offers a full spectrum of open and keyhole procedures, including shoulder decompression for impingement, rotator cuff repair, total shoulder and elbow joint replacement, tennis elbow surgery, collagenase injections, and surgery for Dupuytren's disease, carpal tunnel decompression, trigger finger release, and nerve decompressions. In addition to his clinical practice, Mr. Van Liefland is dedicated to teaching and is currently studying for a Medical Education Degree, contributing to the training of future surgeons and GPs.
