Mr Kostas Karavidas is a Consultant Maxillofacial/Head and Neck and Oral Surgeon at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital, where he has been based since 2012. He is also a key member of the Multidisciplinary Head and Neck Team. He performs regular sialendoscopies and uses all forms of minimal treatment for salivary gland obstructive disease, such as laser intraluminal fragmentation of stones, basket retrieval of stones, balloon sialoplasties, and the intraoral ductal stretching technique for deeply seated stones in the hilum of the submandibular gland.
Mr Karavidas has conducted a large volume of free tissue transfer for facial defect reconstruction using a variety of flaps. He is is a strong believer that reconstruction is patient-specific, and he frequently incorporates virtual surgical planning into his patients' surgical care, ensuring that all patients are as informed about their results as possible prior to surgery.
