He always provides constant and clear communication before, during and after procedures, ensuring that everyone he works with feels confident and comfortable.
Mr Darcy provides his private practice within the prestigious Vision Care Clinic located within the Nuffield Hospital in Bristol. He is also the Head of Corneal and Refractive Surgery at the internationally renowned Bristol Eye Hospital. Highly experienced in complex anterior segment and corneal surgical techniques, he is one of only a handful of surgeons worldwide who can undertake the highly skilled mushroom and tuck-in keratoplasty for very advanced corneal disease. In 2017, he introduced this latest innovation in corneal transplantation to Bristol, which has led to significant improvements in visual outcomes for patients.
Clinical research forms an integral part of Mr Darcy's practice. He is the principal investigator in a number of clinical trials. Performing clinical research allows Mr Darcy to drive continuous improvements to the quality of care he offers. Equally, it means he can gain early access, for his patients, to the latest innovative medical and surgical treatments, often well before they are available globally or through the NHS.
Mr Darcy has an exuberant passion for continually improving patient outcomes and the safety of eye surgery. He sits on the National Refractive Surgery Working Group at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. Together with other like-minded professionals, he works to raise the standards expected to practice refractive surgery within the UK.
Mr Darcy has gained many awards throughout his career including the highly respected Harcourt Medal for achieving the highest marks in the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Consultant examinations. He also regularly publishes in many of the leading journals and speaks at lectures around the world.
