Mr Kailas Munot is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon with York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and sees patients privately at the Nuffield Hospital in York. He trained in General Surgery with a special interest in Breast Surgery. He works exclusively in Breast Surgery, both for breast cancer and for cosmetic cases. He has a specialist interest in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease (benign and malignant) and performs specialist breast conservation techniques, including therapeutic mammoplasty, for cancer patients.
Mr Munot is highly experienced in breast reconstruction and uses a variety of techniques including implants, latissimus dorsi flap and autologous dermal sling and acellular dermal matrix. He has extensive experience in aesthetic breast surgical practice and uses minimal scar techniques for breast reduction and mastopexy (breast lift). He was awarded the coveted National Oncoplastic and Breast Reconstructive Fellowship.
As well as his clinical work, Mr Munot is actively involved in clinical research. He developed a new innovative therapeutic treatment for granulomatous mastitis of breast. He used ultrasound guided aspiration of inflammatory cavity contents followed by instillation of long acting steroids into the inflammatory breast cavity. He was presented with a MD for his research into the genetics and epigenetics of breast cancer.
He has taught on a number of Breast Implant Reconstruction courses and produces material for "Breast Reduction Surgery" on the government's NHS Choices website. He is caring, approachable and patient centred.
