Mr
Mr Jonathan Lund
General Surgery
About
He is well known for his work in a number of research fields, and is one of the most cited researchers in colorectal surgery in the world, with approximately 10,000 citations of his 400+ publications (full list of publications here https://bit.ly/3G7kfpn)
Jon has a special interest in pilonidal sinus disease, developing a novel and minimally invasive treatment with fibrin glue, which requires no incision, no wound, no packing and allows return to full activity within 1-2 days. Success with this treatment has led to him seeing patients from all parts of the UK and overseas, including Germany, The Netherlands, Australia, India and the USA.
Jon also has a special interest in anal fissure, after his research work led to change in first line treatment of this common condition around the world, introducing GTN ointment as the first licenced non-surgical treatment for this common condition.
Jon offers treats the full range of colorectal conditions, from piles to colorectal cancer and is a skilled colonoscopist.
He is also a very keen trainer of surgeons, and developed GMC approved curricula for surgical training in all specialties and is now chair of the Joint Committee on Surgical Training, the body which leads on training in surgery in the UK and Republic of Ireland.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
