James is an internationally recognised specialist knee surgeon based in Bristol and Bath, UK, and a founding partner of Knee Specialists. He later completed further training in partial knee replacement in the UK and spent an 18-month sabbatical at the International Knee and Joint Centre in Abu Dhabi, where he helped to develop a meniscal transplant service.
James has published over 90 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and received multiple awards for his research across the UK, France, and Germany. He is a reviewer for leading journals including the American Journal of Sports Medicine, Bone & Joint Journal, KSSTA (Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy), and the ISAKOS Journal.
He is a past recipient of the BASK (British Association for Surgery of the Knee) President’s Medal, and regularly lectures and teaches around the world as an invited international speaker. His global academic and clinical engagements ensure he remains at the forefront of the latest developments in knee surgery.
Alongside his clinical practice, James acts as a consultant to several orthopaedic device companies and has helped develop surgical instruments and techniques for knee ligament reconstruction, cartilage treatment, and partial knee replacement.
