I am an experienced Surgeon having personally carried out over 4000 joint replacement replacements. I am driven to deliver the very best in advice, care, surgery and outcome. My style is an open and honest discussion of the options which are often non-operative approaches such as weight loss, strengthening and injection of biologically joint preserving agents such as level 1 evidenced platelet rich plasma.
I specialise in modern knee replacement and muscle preserving hip replacement.
Modern knee replacement delivers a much easier and more predictable recovery with higher quality outcomes on all measures. I use both Custom knee replacement (Conformis) and Attune - both of which perform well in the National Joint Registry but also offer proven dramatic increases in patient satisfaction of 95%. I am number 2 in the UK for Confomis knee replacements, I have lectured internationally and teach consultants in the UK of the finer points of the Conformis knee. I have had no infections in custom knee replacement and work obsessively to maintain this.
I am in the top 10 for Attune knees in the UK, having carried out over 500, again talking at National level and have proposed a work around solution to the tibial baseplate issue which I believe permits one to enjoy the other benefits of the Attune over the standard generation of knee replacements. Please note the average knee replacement has a satisfaction of only 80%.
Hip Replacement: I use a minimally invasive approach, preserving muscles. All hips are templates pre surgery, I use a mm ruler at surgery and accept no more than a 2mm tolerance in leg length reproduction. Audit shows a 100% patient recommendation rate.
Now 50 years of age, travels to major meetings in the UK and abroad and teaches both in the UK and overseas.
The comfort in recovery and attention to detail in providing the "best" outcome and experience with the lowest risk is a key focus.
