I wanted to email you personally to thank you and your staff for how i was cared for before during and post my hemicolectomy operation.


The care i received in ward XX was second to none, can you please pass my gratitude to all staff, from admittance to discharge, not just from me but on behalf of my family, who were also treated with so much respect.


There is a lot of negatively surrounding the NHS but I can't praise it enough, not least due to your caring and professional expertise, from the moment you stated " we've a bit of work to do on you" i knew immediately i was in safe hands. You're down to earth approach put my mind at ease, which is no mean feat for someone recently diagnosed with cancer.


Finally, should I hear of anyone suffering with a bowel condition in the future i will whole heartedly be endorsing Dr G Beattie and his team at Antrim Area Hospital

"I refer to my recent gallbladder removal operation… By way of background information I was extremely anxious prior to the surgery because I had waited in excess of one year for same. My gallbladder as Dr Beattie noted was ‘diseased' and it's removal was necessary. Dr Beattie was able to expertly ease my concerns due to his emphatic and understanding nature. Dr Beattie explained to me in great detail the entire surgery and all the risks associated with the same. At no point did I ever feel uninformed. My tricky operation was undertaken via key hole surgery and although my gall bladder was badly ‘diseased' Dr Beattie successfully removed it without the necessity of open surgery due to his specialist skill and experience. And am very grateful that I was under the care of Dr Beattie.Overall my operation was a huge success with magnificent results. My recovery was rapid as my wounds have healed and my scarring is minimal. Dr Beattie provided excellent patient care and undoubtedly is a sincere, caring and highly skilled general surgeon.
