Faisal, known as "Fraz," has over a decade of experience as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the renowned Royal Orthopaedic Hospital. Specialising in knee and shoulder surgery, he serves as the Clinical Services Lead for the arthroscopy department.
Fraz has a particular interest in treating young patients with osteoarthritic knees through advanced techniques such as high tibial and femoral osteotomy, articular cartilage repair surgery, and unicompartmental knee replacements. His expertise in sports injuries, honed during his fellowship, includes ACL reconstructions, complex knee multi-ligament reconstructions, and arthroscopic meniscal repairs. Annually, he performs over 150 total knee replacements as well as complex primary and revision knee arthroplasties. Fraz is a specialist in Robotic knee replacements performing both total and partial with expertise in using ROSA and MAKO.
In addition to his knee work, Fraz addresses a range of shoulder issues from joint replacements to arthroscopic procedures for impingement, instability, and stiffness. His special interest lies in cuff repair solutions, including repair augmentation, superior capsular reconstruction (SCR), and subacromial interposition.
Fraz is an Academy Tutor for the University of Birmingham's undergraduate training programme and an educational supervisor for specialist orthopaedic registrar training in Birmingham. He collaborates with the Birmingham Knee and Shoulder Clinic and is a member of the Midlands Orthopaedic Practice group.
