Mr Faheez Mohamed is a highly qualified and experienced Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh and undertook surgical training in the North East of England. He was awarded a Doctorate in Medicine by the University of Newcastle based on his research into intraperitoneal chemotherapy at Washington Cancer Institute, USA under Dr Paul Sugarbaker's supervision. His area of special interest is Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) for the treatment of peritoneal malignancies.
Mr Mohamed has been the Clinical Director of the Department of General Surgery and Urology at Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust since 2017. His clinical interests include colonoscopy, laparoscopic surgery and treatment of advanced colorectal cancers with Cytoreductive Surgery and HIPEC. In 2009, he was appointed Consultant Surgeon at the Peritoneal Malignancy Institute, Basingstoke. Mr Mohamed is a speciality advisor to NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) for Peritoneal Malignancy and is also the Clinical Lead for the UK Colorectal Peritoneal Metastases Clinical Database.
He is highly involved in both clinical and basic science research concerning peritoneal malignancies, and has also served on the Research and Audit Committee of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland. In addition, he is Vice Chair of the EuroPMP international research consortium, as well as being Medical Advisor to Pseudomyxoma Survivor - a charity established to support patients who suffer from Pseudomyxoma Peritonei.
He is also a member of the Advisory Board for The Mavis Nye Foundation, which provides support to victims of asbestos-related cancer such as mesothelioma. He continues to teach and lecture nationally and internationally on colorectal cancer, pseudomyxoma peritonei, peritoneal mesothelioma and intraperitoneal chemotherapy.
