After graduating, he completed his Registrar Training at Guy's Hospital in London and was a Senior Fellow in Otolaryngology in Seattle, USA. His private outpatient clinics are based at the Spire Hospital in Harpenden; however, he also works at the Cobham Clinic.
He specialises in Paediatric ENT, sinus surgery and the management of patients suffering from balance disorders. Mr Johnston's practice is based on a philosophy of mutualism; making decisions in partnership with patients. He prides himself on providing the most current medical information in an easily understandable form, to allow patients and their families to make informed decisions about their treatment. Priority is given to explaining concepts clearly, and allowing plenty of time within the consultation to answer questions and discuss concerns.
