About
Bhavesh has acquired considerable experience managing a broad range of elite and amateur athletes through posts at the Olympic Medical Institute, the English Institute of Sport, the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre Headley Court, and during a six-month fellowship at Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital in Qatar. He was awarded a British Association of Sport & Exercise Medicine Fellowship that took him to Centres of Excellence at the University of Toronto and McMaster University in Canada, and at Harvard in the USA to study Sport & Exercise Medicine for children and adolescents.
Bhavesh is a Consultant in Sport & Exercise Medicine at the Institute of Sport, Exercise & Health (ISEH) where he leads the National Tendinopathy Centre clinical and research pathways. He also practices privately at the following clinics:

• Fortius Clinic - King William Street and Wimbledon
• Rutherford Cancer Centre Thames Valley
He is a keen advocate of using musculoskeletal ultrasonography within clinic to facilitate early accurate diagnosis and injection therapy when necessary to promote effective rehabilitation.
Bhavesh is currently team physician to West Ham United, AFC Wimbledon, and the England Football Association men's deaf squad and is Chief Medical Officer at Reading Football Club. He works as a Consultant to British Athletics during camps and competitions at home and abroad, as well The European Tour Golf and Saracens rugby academy. He was a Medical Officer for athletics and endurance events, including marathons, road cycling, triathlons and race walks, at the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and with England Athletics at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Dr Kumar has over ten years of experience successfully treating all manner of the upper limb, lower limb and spinal musculoskeletal conditions causing pain or impairing performance. He has acquired specialist expertise in tendinopathy, concussion, chronic pain management, complex and recurrent injuries, youth and adolescent sport, disability sport, and optimization of health and physical activity in patients with chronic disease.
He has special interests in diagnostic ultrasound imaging of orthopaedic complaints to help confirm an accurate diagnosis and evaluate the extent of any injury often on the same visit. He evaluates all conditions in-depth and develops bespoke management plans that help his patients achieve their goals. He discusses all diagnosis and rehabilitation strategies with his patients to ensure they have a good understanding. He works closely with his colleagues from various disciplines to enable optimum recovery.
