About

Mr Barry Rose graduated from Cambridge University and completed his basic surgical training at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospitals. His higher surgical training was on the South East Thames orthopaedic rotation, where he gained experience working in hospitals across London, Kent, and Sussex. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2013.

During his training, Mr Rose completed an MSc degree with research focused on recovery following forefoot surgery. He then undertook a year of fellowship training in Foot and Ankle surgery at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, Australia, where he gained exposure to a wide range of foot and ankle pathologies. Mr Rose further advanced his expertise through a prestigious fellowship under Dishan Singh at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London, specialising in complex foot and ankle surgery.

He was appointed as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Eastbourne District General Hospital (East Sussex Healthcare Trust) in 2016, where he continues to practice, focusing on the full spectrum of foot and ankle conditions, including sports injuries, ankle instability, tendon issues, foot deformities, arthritic disease, heel pain, bunions, and lesser toe problems.

Mr Rose performs a variety of surgical procedures, including arthroscopic procedures, stabilizations, complex reconstructions, joint replacements (arthroplasty), joint fusions (arthrodesis), tendon surgeries, bunion corrections, and lesser toe corrections.

He is also passionate about teaching and is actively involved in training both trainee doctors and surgeons. Additionally, he is an ATLS instructor.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
