In Exeter, he worked with a leading British shoulder surgeon, with areas of interest in frozen shoulder, rotator cuff repair and shoulder replacement surgery. His main areas of interest are traumatic shoulder injuries and their complex reconstruction utilising arthroscopic surgery, treating both contact and overhead professional athletes. He is involved in the education of physiotherapists and healthcare professionals with an interest in sports injuries. He also lectures to Masters and undergraduate students at Glasgow University's Department of Sports Medicine. He receives referrals for patients with the need for complex shoulder replacement surgery and utilises CT-based planning to help plan the operation to match the patient's anatomy. He has a key role in the education of young surgeons in training, as well as being a mentor to Fellows who have worked with him for specialist training in shoulder surgery.
