Mr Alva Spencer is a trained therapist registered as a Psychotherapist with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and has over 20 years experience. He holds a Graduate Diploma in Clinical and Pastoral Counselling Skills (Level 6), Diploma in Mental Health Studies, Diploma in Health and Social Care, Level 4 in Social Work, City and Guilds in Mental Health Level 3 and a number of other certificates in CBT, EFT etc. He is an experienced trainer in the field of Mental Health and in General Wellness.
Mr Spencer has over 20 years experience in the NHS, where he carries out psychological assessments, therapy and group training both in person and remotely. He specialises in a number of areas working with individuals with a primary diagnosis of Personality Disorder symptoms and a variety of co-existing difficulties. Some of these difficulties might have originated from trauma and abuse, but also from other life difficulties and an invalidating environment. Alva is currently routinely working with mental health, phobias, smoking, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, sexual and physical issues and PTSD.
Mr Spencer is a compassionate and person-centred approach when working with you, always putting you and the therapeutic relationship first. We are all different and unique, so he tailors his way of working to suit your needs.
Alva is well-conversed in a variety of models, amongst which, Person-Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, applied Mindfulness and Psychodynamic Approaches. His own background and interest are in a number of holistic approaches.
