Miss Rebecca Ford is an oculoplastic surgeon and ophthalmologist in Bristol, specialising in eyelid, orbital (eye socket) and lacrimal (tear drainage) conditions and their treatment, both medical and surgical. She also looks after patients with general ophthalmology problems such as dry eyes and blepharitis.
Miss Ford qualified in medicine from Oxford University and trained in ophthalmology in London, including the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital. She is a consultant at Bristol Eye Hospital, where she has also served as Clinical Director and oculoplastics service lead. She specialises performs a full range of aesthetic, reconstructive and corrective eyelid surgeries. This includes blepharoplasty and ptosis, as well as all types of eyelid lumps, tumours and malpositions such as ectropion and entropion. She holds a National ACCIA NHS clinical excellence award.
Miss Ford has a special interest in orbital conditions such as thyroid eye disease and orbital tumours, as well as artificial eye related problems. She can assess and treat all types of watery eye and tear drainage problems, including DCR surgery. She can see children with oculoplastic problems at Spire Hospital Bristol.
Rebecca is aware of the psychological impact that appearance changes in the eye area can have on people's psychological wellbeing, and the positive changes that can be made through oculoplastic surgery. As Chair of the Thyroid Eye Disease Charitable Trust she has improved support for people with this condition nationally. She is happy to listen to all types of oculoplastic concerns and help patients to weigh up whether surgery or other interventions are right for them.
Rebecca also has a focus on education and training, and has trained many oculoplastic surgeons from both UK and abroad in the Bristol Eye Hospital Oculoplastics Fellowship program.
