Miss Kom Muthusamy works as a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery with a dual subspecialty in adult foot and ankle and in Paediatric Orthopaedics. She first qualified from the University of Aberdeen in 2000 before completing her basic surgical training in the North East of Scotland. Following this, she obtained a two-year Fellowship working in the United States at a leading Paediatric Orthopaedic hospital, the Children's Hospital Denver in Colorado. Here she studied Gait analysis and its clinical correlation, successfully publishing on this topic in international peer-reviewed journals.
She returned back to Scotland to continue her training, completing her higher surgical training before being appointed as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2013 (FRCS Tr Orth). She undertook her fellowship training whilst at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore where she studied the adult foot and ankle surgery and Paediatric Orthopaedic surgery. It was during this time that she was awarded the British Foot and Ankle Travel Fellowship to Heidelberg in Germany and the IPOS Travel Fellowship to attend the International Paediatric Orthopaedic Symposium in Florida, USA.
After gaining a wealth of experience through her training, Miss Muthusamy secured the post that she is currently in today as a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery at Northampton General Hospital. Her preference is a multidisciplinary approach to treating her patients, including input from Physiotherapists, Specialist Care Practitioners, Occupational Therapists and Podiatrists.
