Mr
Mr Mark Higgins
Orthopaedic Surgery
About
He offers minimally invasive hip replacement surgery using the anterior approach—the only truly inter-muscular and inter-nervous technique. This method reduces soft tissue trauma, potentially leading to faster early recovery, and a quicker return to mobility, work, and sporting activities.
Mr Higgins completed his medical degree in Nottingham and undertook his orthopaedic training within the East Midlands, gaining experience across Nottingham, Derby, Chesterfield, and Mansfield. With a keen interest in hip and knee arthroplasty, he travelled to the USA to observe day case hip and knee replacement procedures. He completed his specialist training in 2018 and went on to undertake sub-specialist fellowships in Sheffield, working with Andrew Hamer and Simon Buckley, and later in Nottingham with Andrew Manktelow, focusing on complex hip revision surgery.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr Higgins earned a Master’s degree in Medical Education with distinction from the University of Nottingham. He remains actively involved in surgical education through his NHS role and as faculty on various national training courses.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
