Dr Malcolme-Lawes graduated from the University of Edinburgh, where she also completed an intercalated BSc in Anatomical Sciences, before undertaking postgraduate medical training across the Royal Free Hospital, East Sussex NHS Trust, West Herts NHS Trust, and Imperial College London. She is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians and holds a PhD in cardiac electrophysiology from Imperial College London. Her doctoral research focused on the role of the cardiac autonomic nervous system in atrial fibrillation, contributing multiple high-impact publications and forming the basis of ongoing clinical trials at Imperial.
Deeply committed to clinical innovation, she has recently introduced the advanced technique of cardioneural ablation for vasovagal syncope at Hammersmith Hospital. As an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London, she remains actively involved in research, teaching, and medical education. She continues to contribute to major multicentre trials—including studies on conduction system pacing—and serves as Principal Investigator at West Herts for the national Protect HF study. Dr Malcolme-Lawes also regularly teaches on national cardiology programmes, including the BCS Mayo Clinic Cardiology Board Review Course.
