Gastroenterology
About
My areas of expertise include:
• Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) – Clinical Lead and Principal Investigator in IBD research
• Diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including capsule and colon capsule endoscopy
• Functional and nutritional gut health
• Complex gastroenterological diagnostics and multidisciplinary management
I work across top-tier private hospitals including Nuffield Health, Spire, and The London Clinic. In addition to delivering high-quality care, I advocate for innovation, medical education, and continuous service development—demonstrated by my leadership roles in endoscopy and IBD services, and my role as Chair of the BSG Small Bowel & Nutrition Section (2022–2024).
My ethos is simple: treat the patient, not just the disease. I strive to ensure every individual feels heard, informed, and empowered in their care.
Clinical Services
• Diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal conditions including IBD (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), irritable bowel syndrome, reflux, dyspepsia, coeliac disease, gastrointestinal bleeding, and nutritional disorders.
Advanced diagnostic procedures including:
• Upper and lower diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy
• Capsule endoscopy and colon capsule for small and large bowel assessment
• Bowel cancer screening and polyp surveillance
• Liver disease management, including fatty liver and viral hepatitis
• Functional gut health optimisation, informed by my postgraduate training in nutrition
• Clinical support for complex and multi-system presentations, with careful liaison with surgical and medical colleagues
• Virtual consultations, second opinions, and follow-up care
What Makes My Practice Stand Out
IBD Leadership: Former Clinical Lead for IBD at a major UK teaching hospital, where I introduced:
IBD Hot Clinics and Virtual Biologics Clinics
IBD app for patient engagement
CNS-led daily ward cover and enhanced IBD nurse team
Evidence-based protocols and multidisciplinary pathways
Capsule Endoscopy Expertise: Pioneered and expanded a high-volume capsule endoscopy service, including the introduction of colon capsule for minimally invasive large bowel assessment—helping patients avoid unnecessary procedures.
Endoscopy Service Development: As Endoscopy Lead, I led my department to JAG accreditation, implemented safety protocols (including the Endoscopy Safety Checklist), and introduced training for nurse and non-medical endoscopists.
Research & Innovation: Principal Investigator for national IBD research studies (e.g., LUCENT, SPIT, and IBD BioResource), contributing to cutting-edge treatment strategies and access to novel therapies.
Education & Governance: Passionate about teaching, I have developed formal induction and training frameworks for junior doctors and regularly contribute to clinical governance, service audits, and ethical medical leadership.
Private Practice Locations
I currently see private patients at several leading London and Essex centres including:
Nuffield Health (Brentwood, St Bartholomew’s and The Holly Hospital)
Spire London East and Hartswood Hospitals
The London Clinic, Harley Street
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
