Lee Shimwell is the dedicated Running Physio at The Performance Lab. A passionate runner himself, Lee has been a member of Calder Valley Fell Runners since 2002 and has competed in some of the UK's most iconic races, including the Bob Graham Round, several British classic fell races, and multiple trail races across Europe, including the World Masters in Italy.
With extensive physiotherapy experience, particularly working with runners of all levels, Lee understands how frustrating injuries can be for those who are passionate about running. His deep personal connection to the sport allows him to empathise with his clients and develop tailored treatment plans to help them return to the sport they love.
Lee graduated in Physiotherapy from Bradford University in 2000. He has worked in NHS musculoskeletal clinics, both in community settings and orthopaedic hospitals, and has risen to the highest clinical level within his field. Lee is a member of the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP) and completed his Masters in Manual Therapy at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2016.
While Lee has expertise in treating all areas of the body, his passion for running has led him to specialise in lower limb injuries, kneecap pain, and running-related injuries. Whether it's an injury sustained during a race or a repetitive strain issue, Lee is committed to helping runners recover and return to their sport with minimal downtime.
