Dr Kuan Joo (Victor) Voon works as a Consultant Cardiologist at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and is the cardiac CT lead and the cardiac lead in ambulatory care. He cares for patients in all aspects of adult general cardiology, particularly the non-invasive assessment and management of cardiovascular health. This also includes the diagnosis and treatment of patients with chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations and blackouts.
Among the heart conditions that Dr Voon treats are coronary artery disease, heart muscle disease (cardiomyopathy), valve disease, arrhythmia, and high blood pressure (hypertension). He also provides services to assess heart fitness before surgery as well as heart fitness to drive.
Dr Voon graduated in medicine at the University of Dublin in 2006 and then went on to complete his specialist training in cardiology in Ireland. As part of this programme, he moved to London to further train in Cardiovascular imaging and Heart failure at St George's University Hospital and in Cardiovascular Imaging at St Bartholomew's Hospital.
His subspecialism is in multimodality advanced cardiovascular imaging, particularly in the use of cardiac CT in cardiovascular disease. He has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians UK.
Dr Voon regularly teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students. He is an active researcher in the field and has published many articles in reputable medical journals; his work has been widely cited by his peers in the medical community. He has been awarded the Doctorate in Medicine for his thesis researching a novel preventive anti-inflammatory and immune-modifying treatment in early cardiovascular disease.
