Katrin Nickles an der Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg, wo sie im Jahr 2005 ihr Staatsexamen mit dem Examenspreis der Universität abschloss. Anschließend absolvierte sie ein Graduiertenprogramm zum Spezialisten für Parodontologie® der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Parodontologie (DGParo) an der Poliklinik für Parodontologie am Zentrum der Zahn-, Mund- und Kieferheilkunde (Carolinum) der Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main. Im Jahr 2010 erlangte sie den Titel "DGP-Spezialistin für Parodontologie®". PD Dr. med. Katrin Nickles ist Mitglied in verschiedenen Fachgesellschaften, darunter die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Parodontologie (DGParo).
