Univ.Doz. Dr. Katharina Schuchter ist Fachärztin für Frauenheilkunde und Geburtshilfe (Gynäkologie) und Humangenetik. Sie ist Präsidentin der Österreichischen Gesellschaft für prä- und perinatale Medizin sowie Präsidentin der Plattform für interdisziplinäre Kinder- und Jugendgynäkologie (PIKÖ). Univ.Doz. Dr. Katharina Schuchter absolvierte ein "Advanced Training Programme in Obstetric Ultrasound" am Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in London, England. Sie hält außerdem ein Diplom in Fetalmedizin der Fetal Medicine Foundation in London. Univ.Doz. Dr. Katharina Schuchter ist Trägerin des ÖGUM-Zertifikats Stufe II, welches ihr von der Österreichischen Gesellschaft für Ultraschall in der Medizin verliehen wurde.
Univ.Doz. Dr. Katharina Schuchter engagiert sich besonders für die Bereiche der gynäkologischen Diagnostik und Pränataldiagnostik. Sie setzt sich für eine qualitativ hochwertige Sonographie ein und nimmt regelmäßig an Rezertifizierungen teil, sowohl bei der Österreichischen Gesellschaft für Ultraschall in der Medizin (ÖGUM) als auch beim Fetal Medicine Center in London.
Für ihre Arbeit im Bereich der gynäkologischen Diagnostik und Pränataldiagnostik wurde Univ.Doz. Dr. Katharina Schuchter bereits mehrfach ausgezeichnet. Im Jahr 2001 erhielt sie den "Special Award" der Fetal Medicine Foundation für ihre Forschung zum Thema "Die Kombination von Uterusarteriendoppler und Plazentavolumenmessung im ersten Trimester zur Vorhersage von Risikoschwangerschaften".
Darüber hinaus wurde sie von der Österreichischen Gesellschaft für Prä- und Perinatale Medizin mit dem Otto-Thalhammer-Preis ausgezeichnet, sowohl im Jahr 2000 als auch im Jahr 1997.
