About

Dr. James Walsh is a Consultant Psychiatrist with a comprehensive background in both public and private healthcare sectors. He obtained his Medical Degree from the University of Bristol and completed his Psychiatric training at South West London and St George’s Mental Health Trust. By 2009, he became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

Dr. Walsh has dual training, holding a CCT in general adult psychiatry and substance misuse. His experience within the NHS spans 7 years, encompassing roles in Adult Community Assessment and Recovery Teams, Acute Inpatient Services, and the creation of the Psychiatric Decisions Unit. Subsequently, he transitioned to a private Rehabilitation and Recovery Inpatient Unit, followed by a role in a private outpatient service where he assessed various mental health disorders, with a notable focus on ADHD.

In addition to his clinical roles, Dr. Walsh has led several quality improvement projects. These projects have centered on establishing new services, treatment pathways, and formulating evidence-based guidelines and policies, particularly in areas like physical health care and pharmacological treatments.

Educationally, Dr. Walsh has a PGcert in Healthcare and Biomedical Education. He has been active in supervising and teaching medical students and psychiatric trainees and has presented at national psychiatric conferences.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
