About

Dr. Islam Heliel is a Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in General Adult Psychiatry, with over 18 years of experience in the NHS and 16 years as a substantive consultant at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. Dr. Heliel holds a medical degree and a Master’s in Neuropsychiatry from the University of Alexandria, Egypt, and became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) in 2003. • Neuropsychiatry: managing conditions such as epilepsy and multiple sclerosis following four years of specialist training.

• Complex case management: with experience in inpatient care under the Mental Health Act and treating first-episode psychosis with comorbid addiction.

• Expert witness work: producing over 150 court-commissioned psychiatric reports.

Dr. Heliel is also active in teaching and clinical leadership, contributing to guideline implementation, clinical governance, and service development. He offers evidence-based, person-centred care supported by multidisciplinary collaboration.
