Irene Sophia Joseph is a passionate Optometrist at Genesis Healthcare Center, Dubai specializing in Myopia management and Specialty contact lenses. She worked for 19 years at Mediclinic City Hospital in Dubai.
She completed her bachelor’s degree in Optometry at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, India and her Postgraduate Diploma in Optometry at Aston University, UK.
She has a fellowship from the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) and the British Contact. Lens Association (FBCLA). She is the former Secretary of the International Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control and also proudly holds a fellowship from the same academy (FIAOMC).
Her core practice involves Myopia management with Orthokeratology lenses. She enjoys working with kids to help them control the progression of myopia.
She is an expert in optocally managig irregular corneas in coditions like keratoconus and post surgical ectasias with Scleral lenses.
As a pediatric optometrist her expertise expands into providinng Vision Therapy for amblyopia or 'lazy eye' conditions and binocular vision disorders.
She also provides Low VIsion Services for people who have impaired vision and cannot be helped with regular spectacles.
She was the first optometrist in the UAE to perform electrodiagnostic tests for the diagnosis of retinal disorders. She excels at diagnostics for disease identification and disease progression analysis. She provides tailored solutions to her patients with a commitment to enhancing their visual clarity and comfort.
She recognizes the importance of staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in her field through continuous education and training.
