Dr Ioanna Nixon is an Award Winning Consultant Clinical Oncologist specialising in the treatment of prostate cancer, bladder cancer, and kidney (renal) cancer. As a clinical oncologist she offers both radiotherapy and drug therapies, including hormone treatment,  chemotherapy, and immunotherapy.

She works at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Center, one of the biggest oncology centres in Europe, where she has a big uro-oncology practice, specialising in prostate, bladder and renal cancer. She is the lead for regional renal radiotherapy, and the Lead for Cancer Innovation in the West of Scotland.  She has served in a number of National and International leadership roles, such as Director Oncology services, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde  (2023-2025), Lead for the Scottish Sarcoma Network (2016-2021). She  is an  Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer in Cancer Sciences at Glasgow University, and has been honoured with a Visiting Professor role at Strathclyde University, Business School in 2019.

She holds a PhD in Radiotherapy, Masters degree in public health (MPH) and recently graduated from the Scottish Quality and Safety (SQS) Fellowship. Her research has a focus on radiotherapy toxicity, and health related quality of life for cancer patients, as their wellbeing is at the core of all her actions. She is known for her holistic  approach, always offering personalised treatment tailored to each of her patients.  In 2023 she received the prestigious Scottish Women’s Award for service in medicine.

In 2018 she was awarded as a Founding Fellow of Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management(FMLM) for leadership and contribution to improving patient-centered

care and recently as Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists(FRCR). Her team has been finalists for the BMJ Awards Cancer Team of the Year 2020. She has been finalist and winner of the prestigious Scottish Women's Awards 2023 under service in medicine.
