About Dr Iain MacGarrow
Dr Iain MacGarrow is a General Practitioner at Essex Private Doctors, with specialist interests in cardiology and aviation medicine. He is passionate about helping people understand, manage, and reduce their cardiovascular risk, whether by preventing problems early or supporting recovery following a heart attack or stroke. Dr MacGarrow trained at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, qualifying in 2006, before completing his GP training around Colchester and Chelmsford. He continues to practise in the local area and also works as an Aviation Medical Examiner, conducting medicals for pilots and cabin crew. Within cardiology, Dr MacGarrow has particular expertise in ECG interpretation, 24-hour ECG and blood pressure monitoring, and detailed cardiovascular risk assessment. He values the opportunity to work in partnership with patients, taking time to explain results clearly and develop health optimisation plans that are both realistic and sustainable. Dr MacGarrow holds membership with the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP).
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
