About Mr Heman Joshi
Mr. Heman Joshi is a Consultant Surgeon based at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, specialising in colorectal surgery. He completed advanced surgical training in London and Oxford and pursued further sub-specialist training as an International Fellow in Robotic Surgery in South Korea. He holds a PhD in pelvic floor dysfunction from the University of Oxford, which stems from his basic science research. Mr. Joshi is also a co-investigator on several clinical trials, contributing to advancements in the field. His expertise includes minimally invasive surgical techniques, such as key-hole, robot-assisted, and single-port surgery, which minimise post-operative pain and facilitate a quicker return to daily activities. He is a fully accredited endoscopist and performs upper and lower gastrointestinal procedures, with a particular focus on the national Bowel Cancer Screening Programme. Mr. Joshi is the clinical lead for endoscopy at Spire Lea Cambridge Hospital and is committed to education, supervising both undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as foundation doctors undertaking clinical research projects. He holds certification in medical education from the University of Cambridge. He is a member of several professional medical organisations, including The Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGBI) and The Society of American Gastrointestinal Surgeons (SAGES).
