About Mr Harry Roberts
Mr Harry Roberts is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in cataract, corneal and refractive surgery. He manages a wide range of conditions including cataracts, astigmatism, presbyopia, keratoconus, Fuchs endothelial dystrophy, corneal dystrophies, corneal infections, pterygium and ocular surface disease. His surgical practice includes cataract surgery with toric and multifocal intraocular lenses, complex cataract surgery, refractive lens exchange, LASIK, LASEK, corneal collagen cross-linking and modern corneal transplant techniques such as DMEK, DSAEK, DALK and penetrating keratoplasty. He also undertakes anterior segment reconstruction and procedures for corneal pathology. He is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, where he serves as Regional Specialty Lead for the NIHR Regional Research Delivery Network in the Southwest. He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer and the Specialty Lead for Ophthalmology at the University of Exeter Medical School. As part of his clinical responsibilities, he leads a cornea and cataract fellowship programme, providing hands-on surgical training for advanced trainees. He completed competitive higher training and fellowship posts at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Southend University Hospital, gaining extensive subspecialist experience in corneal and complex anterior segment surgery. His academic work includes a doctoral degree focused on the integration of femtosecond laser technologies into cataract surgery within public healthcare. He has published more than fifty peer-reviewed articles on cataract surgery, refractive procedures, intraocular lens technologies and corneal surgery, and his work has influenced surgical pathways, including the promotion of immediate sequential bilateral cataract surgery. He is the co-author of Current Clinical Evidence in Ophthalmology, lectures regularly at national and international meetings and contributes to research and education through the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. Mr Roberts provides private consultations and treatment at The Medical Eye Clinic in Exeter, offering cataract surgery, laser refractive surgery, lens-based refractive procedures and the full range of modern corneal transplantation techniques.
