About Mr Gregory Simpson
Mr. Gregory Simpson is an esteemed Consultant Surgeon specialising in General and Colorectal Surgery, with a particular focus on complex abdominal wall reconstruction. A graduate of the University of Liverpool, Mr. Simpson earned an Honours Degree in Medicine and Surgery and a 1st Class Honours Degree in Human Anatomy and Cell Biology in 2010. His comprehensive surgical training was completed in the North-West of England, where he developed his expertise in complex abdominal wall reconstruction. Throughout his career, Mr. Simpson has made significant contributions to surgical research, particularly in understanding the impact of muscle mass on surgical outcomes. His work in this area earned him the prestigious ‘John of Arderne’ Medal from the Royal Society of Medicine. Furthermore, he was awarded the Gold Medal by the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland, recognising him as the top-performing surgical registrar in the UK on the Royal College of Surgeons FRCS exams. After completing his training, Mr. Simpson pursued an advanced fellowship at the National Intestinal Failure Unit in Salford, UK. This role provided him with in-depth experience in complex and re-operative surgery, solidifying his skills in complex abdominal wall reconstruction. His dedication to innovation in surgery led him to become fully trained in robotic surgery, where he utilises the DaVinci Surgical robot to perform most of his operations. Mr. Simpson has travelled extensively, learning from leading surgeons in the USA, Austria, France, and Spain, allowing him to become the first surgeon in the North West of England to conduct robotic abdominal wall reconstructions. To date, he has performed more robotic complex abdominal wall reconstruction operations than any other surgeon in the UK. In addition to his clinical work, Mr. Simpson is passionate about surgical education and training. He actively trains consultant surgeons in the UK and abroad in performing advanced abdominal wall reconstruction procedures.
