Oncology
About
Dr. Barnett has a particular interest in technical contouring in radiotherapy; maximising chance of cure by consistency in identifying the treatment target, whilst minimising toxicity to ensure the best outcomes for patients.
In addition to her practice and research, Dr. Barnett is committed to teaching at local and national level and has developed teaching materials for national RT teaching courses and a local medical statistics course. She is a FRCR Part 1 examiner.
Dr. Barnett's research aim is to individualise radiotherapy prescriptions, increasing dose in tolerant patients and modifying dose in sensitive patients. Her work focuses on determining factors that influence the wide variation in radiotherapy toxicity. This includes patient-related factors, e.g. smoking; treatment-related factors, and genetic factors (radiogenomics).
Dr. Barnett is highly committed to her work and to her patients, always keeping abreast of the latest advances, research and equipment to ensure the best possible outcomes.
