Dr. George Varghese is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with over 25 years of experience, spread over 4 countries, in the treatment and management of sports injuries and joint related problems . His special interests are knee and shoulder problems, with extensive experience in advanced arthroscopic surgeries of knees, shoulders , ankle and wrists . He has done over 8000 joint replacements with special interest being knee hips and shoulder joints . He sees private patients at the Medcare orthopaedic and spine hospital in Dubai .
Dr. Varghese earned his bachelor's degree in medicine and later when on to earn his Master of Surgery in Orthopaedics from manipal University in India in 1997. Dr. Varghese was then awarded an Adult Reconstruction and Arthroplasty Fellowships at the University of Melbourne, Australia in 2000. He then went on to work as the Head of the Department of Joint Surgery and Associate Professor at the Jubilee Mission Medical College, India, for 10 years and was a visiting consultant to the Queensland , Dept of health for around 7 years..He has worked in the field of orthopedics across Australia ,Dubai, Oman and India, and has used these experiences to create a holistic, empathetic approach to his medical practice and address his patient's concerns.
Since beginning his medical practice, Dr. Varghese has become a member of the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery, and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS) and the Arthroscopic Association of North America. His membership in these societies has aided in adding to the quality of practice. Dr. Varghese also understands the importance of sports health as a former world ranked tennis player in seniors above 40 years , and has also previously worked as the Official Doctor for the Dubai Tennis Championships.
