Dr Francesco Pillitteri is a Consultant Ophthalmologist with expertise in both medical and surgical ophthalmology, specialising in cataract and refractive surgery. He currently serves as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust and is also a Clinical Partner at Newmedica.
Dr Pillitteri graduated in Medicine from the Università degli Studi di Palermo in 2005 before progressing through specialist ophthalmic training and gaining the European Board of Ophthalmology Diploma (EBOD) in 2014. He was awarded Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology and in 2018, he completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Cataract and Refractive Surgery at Ulster University, further strengthening his expertise in advanced lens and refractive procedures.
Before relocating to the United Kingdom, Dr Pillitteri worked as a consultant in private practice in Italy, developing broad experience across both general and specialist ophthalmology. He also undertook the prestigious role of Honorary Medical Retina Fellow at Moorfields Eye Hospital, one of the world’s leading ophthalmic centres, where he gained advanced experience in the diagnosis and management of retinal disease.
Known for his patient-focused approach and surgical precision, Mr Pillitteri combines extensive international experience with modern ophthalmic techniques to deliver high-quality, personalised eye care.
