Dr Hisham Hassan Abdelwahab is an experienced consultant nephrologist with over 20 years of experience in Nephrology, General Medicine, and Treatment. He received his medical degree from the University of Gezira, Sudan in 1993, followed by his certification in General Medicine Professional Training, Ireland, and Membership of the Royal College of Physicians from the UK in 1999. He acquired his Masters in Nephrology (MMedSci) from Sheffield University, UK in 2004, and later (CCST) General Medicine & Nephrology from the Postgraduate Medical and Training Board, UK in (2007-2010).
Dr Abdelwahab has served as a Head of nephrology and a consultant at Prince Sultan Military Hospital Medina, Saudi Arabia, and was an active part of the kidney transplantation program. He started his training in Nephrology at Galway University Hospital/Merlin Park and Cork University Hospital in Ireland for three years, then joined The Sheffield institute for Kidney disease, Sheffield University, where he was awarded his MMed Sci degree in Nephrology.
Dr Abdelwahab worked as a consultant Nephrologist at Cork University Hospital in Ireland and Ysbyty Gwynedd University Hospital for three years. He joined Khartoum Teaching Hospital and The Sudan Medical Specialization Board in October 2007, and took the lead on setting Nephrology fellowship training programs in partnership with The Sind Institute of Urology and Transplant and the International Society of Nephrology.
Dr Abdelwahab has a keen interest in General Nephrology and Interventional Nephrology, Dialysis, and Transplant. He is currently the lead of Abu Dhabi's program of Home Haemodialysis (NxStage).
