Dr Shreerang Bhide is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist and Honorary Reader specialising in the treatment of head and neck cancers using advanced radiotherapy techniques. He works at The Royal Marsden Hospital and the Institute of Cancer Research, where he is actively involved in both patient care and leading-edge research.
Dr Bhide has particular expertise in delivering highly precise radiotherapy treatments, including intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), adaptive radiotherapy, and MR-Linac–guided therapy. He leads the implementation of MR-Linac technology at The Royal Marsden, helping to advance more personalised and targeted treatment approaches for patients with head and neck and rectal cancers.
His research focuses on improving outcomes in cancer care, particularly through investigating the role of circulating HPV DNA in HPV-related cancers. He also studies the molecular factors that influence how tumours and normal tissues respond to chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and he is involved in a number of national and international clinical trials exploring innovative treatment combinations, including the use of immunotherapy alongside radiotherapy.
Dr Bhide completed his general medical training at Doncaster Royal Infirmary and went on to undertake specialist training at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust and University College London Hospitals. He was awarded a PhD in Radiation Oncology from the University of London in 2009. He has published over 80 peer-reviewed papers and has received several competitive research fellowships and international awards.
