Dr. Rupert Ransford is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Specialist Endoscopist practicing at Nuffield Health, Hereford. He qualified in 1988 at St. George’s Medical School, London, and completed his specialist training in Gastroenterology in Birmingham, where he researched anaemia and Coeliac disease, leading to the award of his MD from Birmingham University. His research, which earned the Medal of Distinction, has been widely presented in the UK, Europe, and North America. Dr. Ransford has played an instrumental role in establishing the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme in Herefordshire and Worcestershire, making it one of the most successful in England. He is the only accredited bowel cancer screening colonoscopist in Herefordshire.
Dr. Ransford has extensive experience in treating a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions such as dyspepsia, reflux disease, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), coeliac disease, and anaemia. He is highly skilled in endoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy, offering comprehensive care for these conditions. He is actively involved in clinical research and has held leadership positions, including Clinical Guidelines Lead and Guidelines Associate Editor for the British Society of Gastroenterology's journal Gut.
Dr. Ransford is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London and a Member of the British Society of Gastroenterology. He is also the Treasurer of the Midlands Gastroenterological Society and a Member of the British Medical Association.
