Dr Spyrou completed his medical training at St George’s Hospital in London, where he also obtained a BSc in Clinical Pharmacology. His cardiology training took place at some of the UK’s most respected institutions, including Harefield, St Mary’s, and the Hammersmith Hospitals. He was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist in Reading in 2000 and made local history by performing the first ever angioplasty at Battle Hospital in 2003.

His clinical expertise covers all aspects of cardiology, including acute coronary syndromes and primary angioplasty, valvular heart disease, arrhythmias, heart failure, and hypertension. Dr Spyrou has a particular interest in complex interventional cardiology procedures such as coronary angioplasty, permanent pacing, and treatment of chronic total occlusions (CTOs) using both antegrade and retrograde techniques. He also routinely performs advanced procedures including rotablation (rotational atherectomy), intravascular lithotripsy (Shockwave), optical coherence tomography (OCT), and intracoronary ultrasound (IVUS).
