About Dr Kapil Kapur
Dr. Kapil Kapur is a Consultant Gastroenterologist with over two decades and has a wide portfolio of experience in the management of gastrointestinal conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), chronic abdominal pain, liver diseases, pancreatic disorders and iron deficiency anaemia. He is also an accredited endoscopist and regularly performs diagnostic and therapeutic upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy and capsule endoscopy. He currently sees private patients at the Spire Methley Park Hospital. Dr. Kapur earned his primary medical qualification (MBBS) at the University of Bombay in 1986, after which he went on to earn his medical doctorate (MD) in general internal medicine in 1989 at the University of Bombay. He then came to the UK to further his training and gained membership with the Royal College of Physicians, Glasgow. After completing his CCST in Gastroenterology and General internal medicine, he was awarded a fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians in 2004. Since his Consultant appointment, Dr. Kapur has gained managerial experience during his time as the Clinical Director for Barnsley and lead clinician for the Gastroenterology unit. He has been the Training Programme Director (TPD) for registrars for South Yorkshire for 5 years. He has an active interest in clinical and endoscopic research, and has been a author and co author in over 20+ peer-reviewed publications and articles in renowned medical journals. He is also involved in clinical research and has been the principal investigator in both gastroenterology and endoscopy research studies. He has played an important role in introducing Trans nasal endoscopy and colon capsule endoscopy in Barnsley Hospital and is currently working towards setting up the cytosponge service in Barnsley. He has maintained training and teaching interests. He regularly participates as faculty in training registrars in endoscopy in Upper and lower GI endoscopy. He is also a regular examiner for the MRCP PACES examinations held by the Royal College of Physicians both in the UK and abroad. He keeps his medical knowledge updated with the latest developments and research by attending relevant courses in endoscopy , gastroenterology , liver disorders and general medicine. He regularly participates in Audit and different MDTs to enhance the care of his patients.
