Dr Joseph Davar is a Consultant Cardiologist at the Royal Free Hospital, The Wellington Hospital, the Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth,The Wellington Outpatient Diagnostic Centre and The Hendon Hospital
With over three decades of experience he is a world expert in Non Invasive Cardiology & specialises in the Non-Invasive Diagnosis and Management of coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, heart failure, hypertension, and cardiomyopathies, including those induced by chemotherapy.,perioperative risk assessment & cardiovascular risk assessment
Dr Davar conducts ONE STOP Clinics when he sees the patients ,investigates them himself and at the end of at least 1 hour appoitment discusses with patients findings and formulates together with the patients further plan of management
At the Royal Free Hospital, Dr Davar has been instrumental in developing and leading several specialist services, including the Cardiac Investigations Unit, Cardiac CT Service ,Stress echocardiography & Transoesophageal Echocardiography Services ,Heart Failure Service including Chemotherapy induced Heart Failure Service,Hypertension Clinic.He developed & leads Heart Valve Disease and Carcinoid Heart Disease Services.
Dr Davar’s early training took place in Tbilisi and Moscow, where he was awarded the prestigious A.L. Myasnikov Prize (1984) for his book "Mitral Valve Prolapse" .His book "Atlas of Echocardiography " was shortlisted for the State Prize of the Republic of Georgia.
He later completed his specialist training at the Brompton Hospital before joining the Royal Free.Hospital
An honorary Associate Professor at UCL and an elected International Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Dr Davar is widely published,lectures nationally and internationally. He is recognised for his research in various fields of NonInvasive Cardiology, including leading the first global guidelines on Carcinoid Heart Disease (JACC, 2017) .He was awarded British Heart Foundation Grant.
