Dr. Jamilah Motala is a clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience in the mental health sector. Born, raised, and educated in the UK, Dr. Motala has been residing in Dubai since 2017.
Throughout her career, Dr. Motala has worked with a diverse range of individuals from various backgrounds and with a wide array of needs. This exposure has contributed to her professional development, reinforcing the importance of a tailored therapeutic approach for each individual. Dr. Motala provides an integrative framework that aims to facilitate a compassionate and safe journey for her patients.
Dr. Motala obtained her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2006 and has since worked extensively with adults aged 18 and above, presenting with varying degrees of complexity, severity, and risk. Her experience also extends to supporting carers and families when required. Prior to joining The Psychiatry and Therapy Centre, she held a position as a Clinical Psychologist at an outpatient clinic facility in Dubai.
In the UK, Dr. Motala worked across both outpatient and inpatient mental health services within the National Health Service (NHS) and the independent sector, including the forensic sector. Before relocating to the UAE, she held a full-time post as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist across two psychiatric intensive care units (PICUs). In this capacity, Dr. Motala contributed to setting up both services, overseeing the provision of psychological therapies, and supporting staff through clinical supervision, training, and management.
