He then spent time as a cardiology research fellow at St. George's Hospital Medical School in London, after earning grants from the Mediterranean Institute for Transplantation and Advanced Specialised Therapies and the British Heart Foundation.
Dr Lo Guidice returned to Italy in 2000 and worked as a consultant cardiologist at Cefalu's San Raffaele-Giglio Hospital and Trieste's University Hospital, where he was in charge of the cardiovascular department's Pulmonary Hypertension Service. He has extensive experience in the management of acute and chronic ischaemic heart disease, cardiomyopathies, advanced heart failure, and complex arrhythmias. Dr Lo Giudice strongly believes in patient-centered care.
