About
He holds the post of Consultant Dermatologist and Allergy specialist at the Leeds Centre for Dermatology, at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, recognised as an international centre of excellence for Cutaneous Allergy as well as conditions such as skin cancer, Acne and Rosacea. He is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leeds and is actively involved in teaching and supervision of medical students and junior doctors in training. In addition he is the Lead Consultant for one of the Leeds Community Dermatology Services where he supervises General Practitioners with a specialist interest (GPWSI) in Dermatology as well as Dermatology Nurses. He regularly sees patient with general dermatology and inflammatory skin conditions including Psoriasis, Eczema, Alopecia, nail disorders, keloid scars, excessive sweating and for mole checks and other rashes.
He has published and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in medical journals as well as chapters in prominent textbooks such as Bolognia’s Textbook of Dermatology and Kanerva’s Occupational Dermatology as well as having presented in several national and international conferences. His research interests include cutaneous allergy but also melanoma skin cancer, in which he completed his MD/PhD at the University of Leeds and he is also one of the few doctors who also holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and was previous lead clinician in the Dermatology Department in Leeds. He has also won the Best Consultant Dermatologist UK Award and Consultant of the Year UK Awards from the Global Health Partnership (GHP) and IE100 Awards three years in a row (2022-2024) as well as in 2020.
Dr Faheem Latheef grew up in Sweden and India before moving to the UK for his undergraduate medical training at the University of Manchester. After graduation, he undertook his basic medical training at the Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust rotating through various hospital specialities. His specialist training in Dermatology was completed in the Leeds training programme, where he developed his interest in allergies and skin cancer. Additionally, Dr Latheef holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) with his masters thesis focusing on "Competitive Healthcare Strategies in the NHS" allowing him to get a better understanding of Healthcare Management and use of resources.
Having spent time in several countries and interacted with people from all walks of life, Dr Latheef is able to easily establish rapport with his patients, meaning that he effectively explores their ideas, concerns and expectations.Dr Latheef is held in high esteem by patients and colleagues for his friendly, down to earth, compassionate and caring style and for his emphasis on not just treating the skin but also the mind by recognising the significant impact that skin conditions can have on mental health and self confidence and by always ensuring that his patients leave with a complete understanding and holistic treatment plan for their condition.
