About
Dr Thottungal completed her medical degree at the University of Kerala, India in 2000 before relocating to the UK. She later became a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists and a Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine at the Royal College of Anaesthetists. She also holds a European Diploma in Regional Anaesthesia and Acute Pain Management from the European Society of Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine. She is a Fellow of the World Institute of Pain and holds a Diploma in Lifestyle Medicine from the International Board of Lifestyle Medicine and the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine.
Dr Thottungal has expertise in a wide range of areas, including ultrasound-guided interventions in pain management, pelvic pain, shoulder pain, peripheral neuropathies, neuromodulation, facet joint injection, epidural, spinal injections, sacroiliac joint injections, pulsed radiofrequency, radiofrequency denervation, shoulder injections, trigger point injections, nerve root block and peripheral nerve block.
Alongside her clinical work, Dr Thottungal actively contributes to teaching ultrasound-guided interventions and regional anaesthesia blocks for anaesthesia and chronic pain management both nationally and internationally. She also serves as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Canterbury Christ Church University.
