About Dr Aoiffe Kilcommons
Dr Kilcommons is a Chartered and Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Cognitive Analytic Therapist, accredited Cognitive Behaviour Therapist, Voice Dialogue Facilitator and Brainspotting Therapist. Clinically, she has over 25 years experience across a range of settings: community and inpatient mental health, substance misuse, physical health, forensic inpatient and performance environments. Working in the NHS, she specialised in adult mental health and in early-onset psychosis with adolescents & adults. After 15 years NHS service, Dr Kilcommons now works exclusively in private practice. She founded Happiness in Mind practice in 2006 offering effective Clinical Psychology Services and Resilience Training to help people achieve their full potential and lasting happiness and contentment. She leads a team of highly skilled Clinical Psychologists offering a range of evidence based psychotherapies and holistic approaches to overcome various issues, including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, low self-esteem, trauma & PTSD, addiction, physical health issues, chronic pain, perimenopause/menopause and lots more. Driven by her passion for sports, exercise and all things that unlock potential, Dr Kilcommons established the Resilience in Mind Centre following her innovative work with Premier League Football Clubs. Currently, she is proud to work with elite sporting organisations such as GB Taekwondo & British Cycling and several Premier League Football Clubs. She continues to work with Olympic/World class to club level athletes within the sporting arena and in business environments to help people stay mentally tough under pressure to ensure peak performance and well-being. Dr Kilcommons has published research in peer-reviewed journals in the areas of stress, trauma, psychosis, PTSD, early prevention and intervention, risk management and learning disabilities. She has served as an examiner for the Doctorate of Clinical Psychology Training Programme at the University of Liverpool and has presented her work at national annual conferences. She has experience of supervising individuals and multidisciplinary teams. Dr Kilcommons qualified in Psychology from the University of Manchester in 1998, before achieving more qualifications and extensive psychology training.
