Dr Alastair Hetherington studied Dentistry at the University of Bristol and qualified in 2011. Upon completion of his education and being awarded the DENTSPLY oral medicine prize, he undertook a foundation training year in South Gloucestershire. Following this, he worked for Bristol Dental Hospital and the Royal United Hospital, Bath. He worked in Bath for 2 years specialising in oral medicine and oral and maxillofacial surgery. This provided him with extensive experience in complicated tooth extractions and unique oral health conditions. Alongside this, he completed his membership with the Royal College of Surgeons.
In 2013, Dr Hetherington travelled to Tanzania to do charity work with Bridge2aid. He would teach and train clinical officers living in rural parts of the country to remove teeth safely using anaesthetics. A year later, he joined Savernake Dental practice. Since then, he has been getting to know his patients and always delivers on quality dental care. He especially enjoys treating nervous patients who can be a bit challenging. Despite this, he provides a calm and relaxing environment so they can feel at ease during the procedures.
More impressively, Dr Hetherington chose to complete an MSc in Dental Implantology at the University of Bristol. This appears to be an exciting area of dentistry in safely removing and replacing teeth. Furthermore, he was appointed as a trainer for foundation dentists along with the dentist Dr Jonathan Taylor.
