About
Dr Hare graduated from Selwyn College, University of Cambridge in 1999, and completed her postgraduate training at Imperial College London in 2002. She continued with postgraduate training in respiratory and general medicine in London at St Mary's Hospital, St Thomas' Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital.
In 2013, Dr Hare completed a master's in clinical education and was awarded a distinction for her work on the assessment of clinical competence. As part of the prestigious Darzi Fellowship scheme, she has completed postgraduate training in medical leadership and management.
Dr Hare is the President of the British Sleep Society and sits on the Advisory Board of the Sleep Council. She is the Honorary Treasurer of the British Thoracic Society, for whom she sits on the Board, and is the former Chair of the British Thoracic Society Education and Training Committee.
She has trained in cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBTi) at the University of Oxford. She is able to provide expert diagnosis and treatment for all forms of sleep disorders, including snoring, sleep apnoea, restless legs, limb movements in sleep, parasomnias (including night terrors, sleep walking, sleep talking,sexsomnia and REM behaviour disorder)
Dr Hare led the national review of sleep outpatient services, on behalf of NHS England. She speaks nationally and internationally on sleep and improving sleep services. Her work has been widely published both in peer reviewed journals and in the popular press and she has spoken on sleep for the BBC and other news outlets.
In recognition of her work at national level, she has been awarded a National Clinical Impact Award.
Diseases, Medical Tests and Treatments
• Dr Hare is able to offer patients a number of treatments to improve their symptoms, including:
• cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBTi)
• continuous positive airways pressure (CPAP) for sleep apnoea
• non-invasive ventilation (NIV) for respiratory failure
• Dr Hare has a specialist interest in sleep disorders including:insomnia
• sleep apnoea
• restless legs syndrome
• periodic limb movement disorder
• parasomnias and insomnia
• She runs specialist clinics in sleep disorders, respiratory failure and domiciliary ventilation, to help patients who are suffering with symptoms such as:
• daytime sleepiness
• snoring
• insomnia
• abnormal behaviours in sleep
