About Mr David James
Mr David James is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, where he serves as Clinical Lead for Colorectal Surgery and Colorectal Cancer Lead for the Thames Valley Cancer Alliance. He is widely regarded for his expertise in colorectal cancer, advanced minimally invasive surgery, proctology, and High-Resolution Anoscopy for the assessment and management of anal dysplasia. Mr James graduated in London with distinction in Surgery and a First-Class BSc (Hons). He completed his basic surgical training at St Mary’s Hospital, London, and higher surgical training in Oxford. He went on to complete a PhD in robotic surgery at the Hamlyn Centre for Robotic Surgery, Imperial College London, under the supervision of Professor the Lord Darzi, one of the foremost figures in surgical innovation. In recognition of his exceptional performance in the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons examination, Mr James received the ASGBI Gold Medal in 2016. Following his training in the UK, he undertook two world-renowned international colorectal fellowships. His first was at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, USA, where he gained extensive experience in robotic colorectal surgery and complex tertiary referral cases. His second fellowship was at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in Queensland, Australia, further developing his expertise in advanced minimally invasive colorectal surgery. His work from these fellowships has been published and presented internationally.
